CARLISLE, PA - The second-ranked Johns Hopkins women's tennis team shutout host Dickinson, 9-0, on Friday afternoon in Centennial Conference action. The Blue Jays improve to 6-1 overall, including 6-0 versus Division III opponents, and 2-0 in the conference. The Red Devils slip to 1-5 overall and 0-2 in the Centennial.
Hopkins opened with a sweep of the doubles to take a commanding 3-0 lead in the match. Freshman Megumi Chen and junior Olivia Kasten earned an 8-1 win over Joana Nunes and Madison Parks at first doubles. Freshman Caroline Greydak and sophomore Anna Kankanala were 8-3 winners at second over Stuart Lemay and Sarah Cantor. And at third, senior Shannon Libaw and freshman Sunaina Vohra did not drop a game in an 8-0 win over Emily Sprague and Elizabeth Marin. Libaw won 6-3, 6-3 at fifth over Sprague and Kasten
In singles play, Hopkins did not drop a set and lost a total of just 12 games to complete the sweep of Dickinson. Chen won 6-0, 6-2 at first over Nunes. At second, Vohra lost just one game in a win over Parks. Greydak won 12 straight games as she beat Lemay at third. Kankanala clinched the win at fourth with her 6-0, 6-3 win over Cantor. And at sixth, Kasten did not drop a game in her win over Marin.
Hopkins returns to action on Saturday as the Blue Jays host the Bryn Mawr Owls. The Centennial Conference match is slated for a 1:00 pm start at the Johns Hopkins Tennis Courts.
