BALTIMORE, MD – The 12th-ranked Johns Hopkins women's tennis team shut out visiting Dickinson, 9-0, en route to its 92nd straight Centennial Conference win. The Blue Jays improve to 6-2 on the season and 2-0 in the conference, while the Red Devils fall to 3-3 (0-2). Sophomore Sunaina Vohra clinched the win for the Blue Jays, who did not lose a set.
Hopkins opened the match by sweeping the doubles to take a 3-0 lead. Sophomore Megumi Chen and freshman Kimberly Zou earned an 8-3 win at first over Lauren Altschuler and Sydney Diamond. Vohra and classmate Anna Kankanala won 9-7 over Joana Nunes and Madison Parks at second. Freshman Mika Inadomi and junior Amanda Soo Ping Chow won 8-2 over Lydia Fox and Emily Sprague at third.
In singles play, Chen and Soo Ping Chow each needed just 12 games to win at first and sixth over Altschuler and Madison Kuhns-Balone, respectively. Vohra clinched the win at second as she beat Diamond 6-1, 6-0. Zou won at second, beating Parks 6-1, 6-3 while freshman Chrissy Simon beat Nunes 6-2, 6-4 at fourth. Kankanala topped Sprague 6-4, 6-3 at fifth.
Hopkins returns to action on Saturday, April 2 as the Blue Jays travel to Bryn Mawr to take on the Owls. The Centennial Conference match is slated for 1:00 pm.
