• The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins baseball team held a 15-3 lead going into the bottom of the seventh, but Gettysburg rallied scoring 11 runs in the game's final three innings, but JHU held on to claim the 17-14 win.
How it Happened
• The Bullets took an early 1-0 lead in the first as Sean Murphy doubled home Ryan LaCoe.
• With one out in the second,
Chris DeGiacomo doubled to right-center and came around to score on a two-out
Bradley Martin single.
Tim Kutcher followed with a single and
Zach Jaffe was hit by a pitch to load the bases for
Mike Smith who single to right to score two and give JHU a 3-1 lead.
Alex Darwiche continued the two-out rally with a single to left which plated Jaffe and gave the Blue Jays a 4-1 lead.
• Gettysburg got to within one run in the second on an RBI groundout from Patrick McDermott and an RBI single by Chuck Probst.
• The Blue Jays sent 12 men to the plate in the third as Hopkins scored seven runs on seven hits to take a 11-3 lead. Martin, Smith, Darwiche,
Mike Eberle,
Dillon Bowman and DeGiacomo all notched RBI in the frame.
• JHU added another run in the fourth as three straight singles from Kutcher, Jaffe and Smith loaded the bases for Darwiche who was hit by a pitch to force in a run and make the score 12-3.
• Bowman hit into a fielder's choice in the sixth which plated Smith to increase the Johns Hopkins lead to 10.

Austin Sacks walked to lead off the seventh and advanced to second on a wild pitch.
Chris Festa then singled to left to advance Sacks to third. Sacks then scored the 14th JHU run of the game on a Kutcher fielder's choice. Darwiche later singled to score Festa and make the score 15-3.
• The Bullets began their rally in the bottom of the inning as they plated four runs to get the JHU lead down to single digits. They added one more run in the eighth to make the score 15-8.
• Hopkins added two insurance runs in the ninth as Festa led off the inning with a double.
Pete Manny followed with a walk and Festa advanced to third when the ball got past the Gettysburg catcher.
Mike Ainsworth later came up and notched a two-RBI single to put JHU up 17-8.
• Gettysburg made it interesting in the bottom of the ninth as the Bullets began their comeback scoring six runs on five hits. Two singles and a walk to begin the inning loaded the bases with no outs. Sean Murphy scored on a wild pitch and back-to-back RBI singles made the score 17-11. A groundout plated another run to make the score 17-12 and Gettysburg plated another run on a wild pitch to bring the Hopkins lead down to five. Another RBI single with two outs made the score 17-14, but
Jake Griffin got the final out off the inning and gave Hopkins the victory.
