Hopkins to Face Second-Ranked Claremont in USA Water Polo Semifinals

WHITTIER, CA – The fifth-ranked Johns Hopkins water polo team will face second-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the semifinals of the inaugural USA Water Polo Division III National Championship. Host and top-ranked Whittier will take on seventh-ranked MIT in the other semifinal.
 
The first semifinal, between Whittier and MIT, is slated for a 4:00 pm start on Saturday, December 7. Hopkins and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps will meet at 6:00 pm PST in the second semifinal. The winners will face off in the championship match at 12:30 pm on Sunday, December 8. The third-place match will take place at 10:30 am, before the championship.
 
Admission for the tournament is $12 for the day or $20 for the weekend.
 
Hopkins is 7-7 all-time against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, including a 9-8 win on October 4 at the Gary Troyer Memorial Tournament. JHU is 4-4 versus Whittier, with the Poets beating the Blue Jays 13-10 on October 5. JHU is 30-11 all-time against MIT and the Blue Jays beat the Engineers, 16-12, in the 2019 CWPA Division III Championship on October 27.
