Peter Schaefer was named Centennial Conference Pitcher of the Week it was announced today. The sophomore right-hander was outstanding in a win over Gettysburg in game one of Saturday's doubleheader.
The Knoxville, TN product completed the best start of his young career, throwing seven scoreless innings in a 13-0 victory. Schaefer struck out six and scattered just five hits against the Bullets. Schaefer has gone three straight starts (16.1 innings) without allowing an earned run and has reduced his ERA to 1.80. The staff ace has struck out at least five batters in every outing this season and has 34 whiffs in 25 innings on the year.
JHU returns to Homewood on Saturday to host Ursinus in a Centennial Conference doubleheader. The Blue Jays are currently in a tie for first-place at 7-3 in the conference.
