LANCASTER, PA – The Johns Hopkins women's tennis team grabbed two major awards and 11 all-conference honors when the Centennial Conference announced its end of season awards this afternoon. Sophomore
Anjali Devireddy was named the league's player of the year, while freshman
Ali Bader was selected as the rookie of the year. In addition, seven Blue Jays combined for 11 All-Centennial Conference honors.
Devireddy is the sixth Blue Jay to be named Centennial Conference Player of the Year. Bader is the fourth to earn Centennial Rookie of the Year honors since the award's inception in 2013. Hopkins has now produced 54 All-CC Singles selections and 40 doubles selections. The Blue Jays' 11 selections this year match the program record. In addition, this is the sixth straight year that JHU has had at least one freshman earn all-conference honors.
Devireddy also earned First Team All-Centennial honors in singles and doubles. She is 6-1 in singles and 7-0 in doubles this season. In addition to earning rookie of the year honors, Bader was named to the honorable mention doubles team. She is 5-0 in singles and 5-0 in doubles in her freshman campaign.
Senior
Anjie Kashyap earned both First Team All-Centennial honors in singles and doubles. This is her third career all-conference honor for singles and second for doubles. She is 5-0 in singles and currently ranks 21
st in program history with 36 career singles wins. In doubles, Kashyap is 6-0 this season and is tied for 16
th with 40 career wins.
Graduate student
Sophia Strickland also earned first team honors in singles and doubles. She is a three-time All-Centennial selection in both. Strickland, who recently earned her 100
th career win, is 8-0 in singles and 7-0 in doubles this season. She ranks 10
th in school history with 47 career singles wins and is sixth with 56 career doubles wins.
Senior
Dhanya Asokumar was named second team all-conference in singles and honorable mention for doubles. These are her second career all-conference nods for both. Asokumar is 6-0 in singles and 5-0 in doubles and she is tied for 23
rd with 37 career doubles wins. In addition, she ranks 23
rd with 70 career total wins.
Junior
Jessica Liang earned Second Team All-Centennial honors for singles and was also named to the All-Sportsmanship Team. Liang is 4-0 in singles this season and is 19-4 for her career. Sophomore
Emily Javedan also earned first team all-conference honors for doubles. She is 8-0 in doubles this season, including 7-0 in Centennial Conference play.
