BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins baseball team will play Trinity (TX) in its opening game of the 2021 NCAA Division III Tournament it was announced Sunday evening.  The Blue Jays (11-3) are one of six teams assigned to a regional in St. Paul, Minnesota with play scheduled to begin on Thursday, May 27.  The Johns Hopkins-Trinity game is set for 11 am (CT) on the opening day of the tournament, which will take place at the University of Northwestern-St. Paul.
 
Johns Hopkins earned an automatic bid to the tournament as the Centennial Conference champion.  The Blue Jays are seeded sixth in the regional, while the Tigers (28-7) are seeded first.  In addition to Johns Hopkins and Trinity, the St. Paul Regional also includes Aurora (IL), St. Mary's (MN), Misericordia (PA) and Northwestern-St. Paul.  This will be the first-ever meeting between Johns Hopkins and Trinity.  The winner of the Johns Hopkins-Trinity game will play the loser of the Misericordia-Northwestern-St. Paul game on Friday at 2:30 pm, while the loser will play the loser of the Aurora-Saint Mary's game at 11 am on Friday.
 
Johns Hopkins is making its 24^th appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament, including the 23^rd under the direction of head coach Bob Babb.  The Blue Jays have claimed four regional titles in program history (1989, 2008, 2010, 2019)
 
The 2021 NCAA Division III Baseball bracket features 48 teams divided evenly into eight, six-team regionals.  The eight regional winners will advance to the Division III World Series in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  The championship series will run from June 4-9 at Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
