Johns Hopkins Placed Four on USFCA All-Region Teams

BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins women's fencing team placed four on the 2022 United State Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA) Mid-Atlantic/South All-Region Teams. These awards are determined based on result and field size at each of the NCAA Regional Competitions.  
 
Juniors Alex Szewc (Epee) and Delphine Tan (Foil) and sophomores Czarina Alfonso (Foil) and Jenny Song (Sabre) earn USFCA All-Region honors.
 
Szewc led the Epee squad with 58 wins (58-51) and placed 25th at the NCAA Regional. She earned her 100th career win and was the runner-up at the EWFC Championships in February. She ranks 12th in program history with 115 career Epee wins. Song finished with a team-best 111 wins in the Sabre, two shy of the program's single-season record. She won the EWFC Championship, placed 10th at the NIWFA Championship and 11th at the NCAA Regional. Song already ranks 13th in school history in career Sabre wins.
 
Tan went 23-13 this season in the Foil and finished 27th at the regional earlier this month. Alfonso ranked third on the Foil squad with 60 wins this season and she placed 24th at the NCAA Regional.
