Matthew Cooper Named Centennial Player of the Week

Lancaster, PA - For the first time in 2022, a Johns Hopkins Blue Jay has been named Centennial Conference Player of the Week in baseball. Junior transfer Matthew Cooper is the first Jay to earn the honor this year after a massive week at the plate with some heroics mixed in.

Cooper, a Chalfont, PA native, hit .538/.682/1.231 over a four-game stretch, leading JHU to a 3-1 week overall with a sweep of Centennial leader Franklin & Marshall on Saturday. For the week, Cooper had a pair of three-hit games, hit two homers, a double, a triple and drew six walks. The junior drove in nine runs and scored eight times for the week. In Saturday's game one win over Franklin & Marshall, Cooper hit a go-ahead grand slam in the bottom of the sixth to help the Jays to an 8-6 victory. He added another two-run shot in the 13-6 game two win.

The Jays will travel to Westminster, MD on Wednesday for an afternoon tilt with the McDaniel Green Terror.
