BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins women's tennis incoming freshmen class has been ranked third in the nation by TennisRecruiting.net. The is the fifth time in the last 13 years that the Blue Jays' recruiting class has been ranked in the top-five. This is JHU's highest ranking since a program-best second in 2013.
"We're excited to welcome this class to Homewood in the fall," said head coach
Dan Pollock. "On court, they will help push our program forward, but more importantly, I believe that off the court they are the epitome of the type of young people we want representing our university."
Hopkins will welcome a pair of four-star freshmen for the 2022-23 season in Julia Xiao (Chapel Hill, NC / East Chapel Hill High School) and Essence Wang (Thousand Oaks, CA / Westlake High School). They will be joined by a trio of three-star players – Niamh Harding (Delray Beach, FL / Saint Andrew's School), Kamila Wong (Palo Alto, CA / Palo Alto High School) and Imani Ghosh (Boyds, MD / Northwest High School).
Hopkins went 13-7 and won its record 15
th Centennial Conference title in 2021-22. The Blue Jays advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament before falling to 13
th-ranked Williams. Two-time Centennial Conference Player of the Year
Anjali Devireddy also earned a spot in the NCAA Singles Championship.
