GENEVA, NY – Johns Hopkins junior defender
Liz Falterer has been named the NFHCA Region V Co-Player of the Year it was announced today. Hopkins has produced the region's player of the year in each of the last three years and four times in the last five seasons.
Falterer helped the Blue Jays to their fifth straight Centennial Conference Championship, fifth straight NCAA Final Four and third straight appearance in the national title game. Hopkins went 21-2 this season and ran its conference unbeaten streak to 40 games.
Falterer was named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Year and a First Team All-Centennial Conference selection last month. She then added First Team NFHCA All-Region and NCAA All-Tournament Team honors to her resume.
Falterer anchored a Blue Jay defense that ranked sixth nationally in goals against average (0.60) and shutouts (12). She led the team in defensive saves (3) and ranked second in points (22), tied for second in goals (9) and tied for fourth in assists (4).
