Czarina Alfonso and freshman
Josephine Chang led the Johns Hopkins women's fencing team with 22
nd place finishes at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Regional Saturday at Lafayette.
Alfonso led the Foil squad with her 22
nd place finish, out of 36 fencers. She was also the top Division III fencer in the weapon as she went 4-6 on the day. Freshman
Rosy Cepero went 2-3 to place 26
th and classmate
Bethany Lee finished in 30
th place with a 1-4 record.
Chang had a first-round bye and then went 1-4 in pool play to finish in 22
nd place. She was also the top DIII fencer in the Sabre, out of 36 fencers. Freshman
Adelaide Benoit placed 25
th with a 2-3 record while junior
Jenny Song took 31
st place with a 1-4 record.
In the Epee, sophomore
Ameera Ebrahim led the Blue Jays with a 25
th place finish and a 3-2 record on the day. Sophomore
Katelyn McShine went 1-4 and finished in 31
st place, while senior
Rachel Zhang also went 1-4 and took 35
th place. Junior
Maya Zhang finished in 36
th place with an 0-5 record.
