LANCASTER, PA- Blue Jays third basemen
Shawn Steuerer was named the Centennial Conference Player of the Week, it was announced this morning. Steuerer becomes the third Blue Jay this season to receive the honor and it is the first time he has been selected in his career.
Steuerer was scorching hot at the plate in the final four games of the week for Johns Hopkins, going 11-for-24 with four extra-base hits and seven RBIs. Steuerer started the tear off with a 4-for-5 performance against seventh-ranked Wisconsin-Stevens Point, which was the third four hit performance of his career. Steuerer was 7-for-15 in the final three games of the week, picking up a double, two triples, and a homer, while driving in seven runs. Steuerer is currently seventh in the conference in batting average at .375 and is tied atop the conference in home runs with six. Steuerer is also tied for second on the team in RBIs with 18 which is tied for 11
th in the conference.
The Blue Jays return to the diamond tomorrow as they take the short trip down to Washington DC to take on the thirteenth-ranked Catholic Cardinals at 6 pm.
