BALTIMORE, MD- The Johns Hopkins baseball team will be hosting an NCAA Regional for the second time since 2019 with the bracket being announced earlier today. The regional games will be played from May 19-21 with the Blue Jays first matchup slated for 11 am on Friday to take on Penn State-Altoona (20-25).

The other two teams in the regional, who will square off at 2:30 pm on Friday, are Randolph-Macon (31-13) and St. John Fisher (30-12). The two losers on Friday will take each other on in an elimination game on Saturday at 11 am, while the two winners will square off at 2:30 pm on Saturday.

How They Got Here
Johns Hopkins earned an automatic bid as the top overall seed in the tournament after capturing their 17
th Centennial Conference championship. Penn State-Altoona claimed their third AMCC title with a 14-5 win over Hilbert College to earn its auto-bid.

Randolph-Macon earned one of the 17 at-large bids into the tournament, while St. John Fisher also received an auto-bid after capturing the Empire 8 Conference championship.

Series History
Friday will be the first time that the Blue Jays and Nittany Lions have matchup up on the diamond. The teams had two common opponents this season in Ursinus and Juniata. JHU went 3-1 against those teams while Penn State-Altoona went 0-3.

Johns Hopkins has played the other two teams in the regional several times, holding a 7-14 record all time against RMC. JHU is however 2-0 against the Yellow Jackets in NCAA Regional games. The Blue Jays are 3-5 against the Cardinals all-time, and the Cardinals have won the last four meetings between the two schools. This could potentially be the first meeting between JHU and St. John Fisher in the regional.

Playoff History
Johns Hopkins is making its 25th appearance into the NCAA Regional with an all-time record of 47-42 in the regional. Since the new format, which started in 2019, Johns Hopkins is 7-1 and they went 3-0 at Babb Field during the 2019 regional.
Penn State-Altoona is making just its second ever appearance in the regional and its first since 2011. The Nittany Lions hold a 1-2 record in the regional all-time.
The Yellow Jackets are making their seventh appearance into the NCAA Regional and sixth under current head coach Ray Kendrick. Randolph-Macon has only ever made it out of the regional one-time program history.
St. John Fisher has now made the tournament five times since 2016 and advanced to the Division III World Series in 2016.

Ticket Information
Tickets will be $5 for youth, adults and senior citizens while children under two are free. Gates will open at 10 am all weekend and all tickets can be purchased at the gate.Â
