KANSAS CITY, MO – Johns Hopkins placed three players on the 2024 United Soccer Coaches Region V team it was announced Tuesday. Senior
Francis Meyer and graduate student
Mikkel Andersen were named first team and senior
Will Sangpachatanaruk was named to the second team.
Hopkins has now produced 84 United Soccer Coaches All-Region selections, including 44 under head coach
Craig Appleby. The trio led the Blue Jays to their second straight Centennial Conference title and a trip to the NCAA Second Round this season.
The 2024 Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Year, Meyer earns all-region honors for the third straight year. He is the ninth player in program history to earn all-region honors at least three times and the first since 2019. Meyer anchored the midfield as a key part of the Hopkins' defense that finished tied for first in the conference in goals allowed. He also led the Blue Jays on the offensive end with six goals, six assists and 18 points.
Andersen started 20 games on defense in his first season with the Blue Jays. He earned First Team All-Centennial Conference honors as part of a defense that allowed just 18 goals and posted nine shutouts. Andersen also tallied an assist on the game-winning goal versus sixth-ranked Dickinson in the Centennial Conference semifinals.
Sangpachatanaruk adds all-region honors to his resume after picking up all-conference accolades earlier this season. He finished with career highs in goals (4), assists (8) and points (16). Sangpachatanaruk's eight assists led the team and were tied for second in the conference. In addition, his eight helpers are the most by a Blue Jay since 2017 and are tied for 12
th all-time in JHU history.
