PHILADELPHIA, PA – Johns Hopkins dropped four matches on Friday at the Philadelphia Invitational. The Blue Jays fall to 6-7 on the season.
Hopkins opened the day against UC San Diego, with the Tritons taking a 20-7 win.
Adele Dai won each of her three bouts in a tough 5-4 loss for the Sabre squad.
Rosy Cepero and
Sophia Baleeiro earned one win each in a 7-2 loss in the Foil. In the Epee,
Katelyn McShine picked up the Blue Jays' lone win.
JHU then took on host and 11
th-ranked Temple, with the Owls grabbing a 20-7 win.
Lauren Prieur and
Victoria Li won one bout each in a 7-2 loss in the Sabre. Cepero won two of her three bouts as the Epee squad lost 6-3.
Anika Kale and
Mariela Abramson each won a bout in a 7-2 loss for the Epee squad.
The Blue Jays fell to fourth-ranked Princeton, 16-11. The Sabre squad grabbed an 8-1 win, led by Prieur and
Jessie Tong, who combined for six wins. The Foil squad fell 6-3, led by Cepero's two wins, and the Epee squad lost 9-0.
Hopkins ended the day with a 19-8 win over North Carolina.
Josephine Chang won two of her three bouts in a close 5-4 loss for the Sabre team. Cepero again picked up two wins but the Foil squad fell 6-3. Kale then earned the lone Blue Jay win for the Epee team.
JHU returns to action at the Philadelphia Invitational on Saturday, January 18 against 10
th-ranked Ohio State.
