LANCASTER, PA –
John Ghanem has been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his performance last week. This is his first career conference weekly honor, and he is the first Blue Jay to earn player of the week honors this season.
Ghanem back-stopped Johns Hopkins to a 1-0-1 week against a pair of undefeated teams. On Wednesday, he made six saves as JHU tied eighth-ranked Dickinson, 1-1. He held the potent Red Devils' offense to more than 1.3 goals below their season average. Ghanem then made three saves on Saturday in a 1-0 win over Muhlenberg.
Ghanem has played in 14 games, with 12 starts, and played 1,125 minutes in goal. He sports a 1.36 goals against average and a .754 save percentage with three shutouts.
Hopkins closes out the regular season and looks to secure a Centennial Conference playoff berth on Friday, October 31 at Ursinus.
