BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins women's tennis team reached a historic milestone this fall by featuring three All-American doubles teams on its roster at the same time.
The Blue Jays' trio of standout pairings —Â
Kamila Wong and
Ava Li,Â
Jay Xiao and
Lia Melvin, andÂ
Sahana Madala andÂ
Claire Loftus — each earned ITA All-America honors through strong performances at the ITA Regional Championships and ITA Cup.
Wong and Li first earned All-America status last season by winning the ITA Regional Doubles Championship, then advanced to the ITA Cup in Rome, Georgia, where they went 2-1 against top national competition. The duo later qualified for the NCAA Doubles Championships in May at Claremont.
Madala and Loftus followed suit this fall, capturing the ITA Regional Doubles Title and matched their teammates' ITA Cup success with two wins in Rome. Their victory marked the third consecutive year that a Johns Hopkins doubles team claimed the regional crown — following 2023 championsÂ
Sophia Kim and Ashley Chang.
Xiao and Melvin secured their All-America honors by reaching the final of their ITA Regional draw, which earned them a spot at the ITA Cup. There, they opened with a win over a team from Wesleyan to clinch All-America recognition and went on a thrilling run to the ITA Cup final, tying the best doubles finish in program history.
"This is an incredible accomplishment for our program," said head coach Michael Herman. "Having three All-American teams on the roster is a testament to how hard the players have worked."
The Blue Jays will return to action in January with a match against Brown University that will jump-start the spring portion of their 2025-26 schedule.
