NEW YORK, NY – Johns Hopkins grabbed wins over NJIT and Stevens, but fell to host Columbia at the Columbia Invitational on Sunday. The Blue Jays improve to 9-1 on the season.
Hopkins kicked off the day with a 19-8 win over NJIT, winning all three weapons.
Josephine Chang and
Ky McSweeney won two bouts each to lead the Sabre squad to a 6-3 win.
Rosy Cepero went 3-0 and the Foil squad won 7-2.
Mickey Zhang won both of her bouts to lead the Epee squad to a 6-3 win.
JHU followed with a 21-6 win over Stevens.
Maddie Huang won her three bouts and the Sabre squad earned a 8-1. The Foil squad did not drop a bout, led by
Bethany Lee and
Nina Markovsky, who combined for six wins. The Epee squad dropped a tough 5-4 decision.

Thansi Garikipati winning one bout each.
The Blue Jays dropped their first contest of the season, falling 21-6 to the Lions, last year's NCAA Runner-up. Huang earned two wins as the Sabre squad fell 6-3. In the Foil, Cepero picked up the lone win for the Blue Jays. Zhang and
Nicole Yu won one bout each in a 7-2 loss for the Epee squad.
Hopkins returns to action on Friday, January 16 at the Philadelphia Invitational.
