BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins took down Haverford and Drew but lost to 15
th-ranked North Carolina on Sunday at the JHU Invitational. The Blue Jays improve to 13-3 on the season.
Hopkins opened the day with a 22-5 win over Haverford.
Adelaide Benoit won each of her three bouts to lead the Sabre squad to a 7-2 win.
Julianna Wu and
Camille Oteyza combined for six wins and the Foil squad won 9-0.
Thansi Garikipati also went unbeaten and the Epee squad grabbed a 6-3 win.
The Blue Jays fell 23-4 to the Tar Heels in round two.
Josephine Chang earned the lone Sabre win for the Blue Jays, while
Nina Markovsky did the same in the Foil.
Nicole Yu grabbed both of JHU's wins in in the Epee.
Hopkins closed out the day with a 21-6 win over Drew, ranked eighth in Division III.
Maya Balakumaran went 3-0 to lead the Sabre squad to a 6-3 win. In the Foil squad's 7-2 win, Markovsky and
Adrianne Lin each won three bouts. Yu and Abramson turned the same trick in an 8-1 win by the Epee squad.
JHU returns to action on Saturday, January 24 at the Penn State Invitational.
