LANCASTER, PA – Johns Hopkins seniors
Adriana Catalano and
Erika Ezumba, along with freshman
Caleb Tenney, were named the Centennial Conference Track and Field Athletes of the Week after posting some of the fastest and farthest performances in Division III history at the Dr. Sander Scorcher. The honor marks the second conference weekly award this season for both Catalano and Ezumba, while Tenney earns the first such accolade of his career.
Catalano opened the new year at the Dr. Sander Scorcher with one of the fastest mile performances in Division III history. The senior clocked a personal-best 4:49.58 in the mile, earning a 13
th-place finish in a field loaded with top-notch Division I talent. Her time ranks as the second-fastest mile in program history, the third-best in Centennial history, sits second in Division III this season and stands as the 20
th-fastest performance ever recorded at the Division III level.
Ezumba repeated as Field Athlete of the Week after rewriting the record books for the second consecutive week against a field loaded with premier Division I talent. The senior once again starred in the weight throw, surpassing her previous mark from the Cardinal Track & Field Classic. She recorded a personal-best throw of 19.17 meters to secure the Blue Jays' lone event victory on Day One. The mark shattered both her program and Centennial Conference records, ranks second in Division III this season and stands as the 19
th-best throw in Division III history. Ezumba concluded her meet in the shot put with a top-15 performance, as she placed 12
th with a throw of 12.26 meters.
On the men's side, Tenney led the Blue Jays competing against a field that included numerous Division I programs. The freshman recorded a time of 8:08.04 in the 3,000 meters, placing fifth overall. His performance ranks as the second-fastest time in Johns Hopkins history, the fourth-fastest time in Centennial history, the fifth-fastest mark in the nation this season and the 24
th-fastest time in Division III history.
Johns Hopkins returns to action Saturday, January 30, for the two-day Patriot Games, hosted by George Mason University at the George Mason Field House.
