BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins graduate student
William Jaun and senior
Lukas Geer have been named to the
D3Baseball.com Team of the Week following an exceptional week at the plate for both student-athletes, announced Wednesday. The honor marks the first of their career and makes them the fourth and fifth Blue Jay to earn national recognition this season.
Jaun, the Centennial Conference Player of the Week, powered the Blue Jays to a 4-0 week in conference play, highlighted by a pair of wins over 15th-ranked Gettysburg (34-14, 15-13) and a doubleheader sweep of Muhlenberg (14-3, 15-10). Across four games, he hit .579 (11-for-19) with 16 RBIs, 11 runs scored, three home runs—including a grand slam—a double and two walks, good for a 1.724 OPS.
In the program-record 34-14 win at Gettysburg, the first baseman went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBIs, five runs scored, a walk and a three-run home run. He followed with another dominant performance in the 15-13 win, going 4-for-5 with eight RBIs, three runs, a grand slam, a two-run homer and a two-run single.
Geer was instrumental in the Blue Jays' success. Across four games, the left fielder hit .538 (7-for-13) with 11 RBIs, nine runs scored, three home runs, two doubles, six walks and a hit-by-pitch, good for a 2.052 OPS.
In the record-setting win at Gettysburg, Geer went a perfect 3-for-3 with two home runs, five RBIs, a walk and a hit-by-pitch. He followed that with another strong performance in the 15-10 win at Muhlenberg, going 3-for-6 with two doubles and two RBIs.
Hopkins returns to action Friday, April 10, traveling to Westminster to face McDaniel in the second game of the home-and-home series at Preston Field. First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m.
