Hopkins broke through for its first runs of the game in the third inning, as sophomore shortstop Jonas Fester roped a double into the left field corner to score Christie and send the day's first run across. Sophomore first baseman Matt Benchener scored the decisive run from third on a wild pitch.
The Maroons got a 2-for-4 afternoon from freshman catcher Scott Hofer, who scored Chicago's only run of the day on a fourth-inning Hopkins throwing error.
