BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins women's tennis senior
Anjie Kashyap has been named to the 2020-21 CoSIDA Academic All-District Team it was announced today. The CoSIDA Academic All-District Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom.
To be nominated for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA, be a sophomore or above and a starter or significant reserve. Kashyap will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot with the Academic All-America Teams set to be announced August 4. The At-Large Program includes athletes from the following sports: beach volleyball, bowling, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, rowing, skiing, swimming, tennis and water polo.
The JHU women's tennis team has now produced 13 CoSIDA Academic All-District selections since 2003. Kashyap is the first Blue Jay women's tennis player to be selected since 2014.
Kashyap graduated in May with a 3.75 cumulative GPA and a degree in environmental science. She earned All-America honors this season and advanced to the second round of the 2021 NCAA Singles Championship. She finished her career ranked in the top-20 in career singles wins (37), doubles wins (42) and total wins (79). Kashyap is ranked 22
nd in the nation in singles and 11
th in the Atlantic South in doubles.
Kashyap was named the Centennial Conference (CC) Player of the Year in 2018 and 2019 as well as the CC Rookie of the Year in 2018. In addition, she was a three-time First Team All-CC selection in singles and a two-time selection in doubles. She led Hopkins to three CC titles as well as three NCAA Sweet 16s and a 42-15 record in three seasons.
Kashyap worked as a data analytics research at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health since August 2020, investigating vacant lot restoration on Baltimore adolescent health. She spent the last two summers as a research assistant at the Cleveland Clinic Learner Research Institute-Lathia Lab. In the July 2019, she worked as a Spanish-English translator for the Peru Health Outreach Project.
Kashyap volunteered with JHU's CoVID-19 Vaccine Project at M&T Bank Stadium this spring. She volunteered with ACEing Autism all four years of her career and spent two years as a volunteer with Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
