Kinling ranks as one of the top soccer players in school history after a stellar career from 1946-49. Controlling the action for the Blue Jays both offensively and defensively from his center midfield position, Kinling earned Honorable Mention All-America honors as a junior and senior to become the first soccer All-American in school history. At that time, the soccer All-America teams were made up from every school playing the sport in the nation. There wasn't a divisional split or a University Division and College Division.
