One of the few four-year, three-sport athletes in JHU history, Kathy Hart left her mark as a member of the Johns Hopkins field hockey, women's lacrosse and squash teams.
Hart became the second All-American in Hopkins' field hockey history in 1987, when she garnered Honorable Mention All-America status. A standout midfield, she finished the 1987 season with 11 goals and two assists and concluded her career with 14 goals and nine assists to her credit. She was also a First Team South Region All-American as a junior, when she also garnered First Team All Middle Atlantic Conference Southwest honors. She helped guide the JHU field hockey team to a pair of appearances in the MAC playoffs and was a two-time team captain.
In women's lacrosse Hart left her name in the JHU record books as one of the most prolific goal-scorers in school history. She finished her career ranked third in goals scored (139), assists (40) and points (179) and still ranks among the all-time leaders in all three categories. Hart's efforts helped lead the Blue Jays to their first three appearances in the NCAA Tournament with a trip to the NCAA Semifinals in 1988.
Hart was also a four-year member of the Johns Hopkins squash team. Individual records are not available, but she was among the top three players on the team throughout her career.
In addition to the records and honors listed above, Hart was also the recipient of the prestigious Catherine C. Kramer Award, which is presented annually to the top senior female athlete at Johns Hopkins.
