A key figure during a dominant period for the Johns Hopkins swimming team, Doug Morgan left his mark on the Johns Hopkins record book and helped guide the Blue Jays to national acclaim.

Morgan led the Blue Jays to the 1978 and 1979 NCAA Division III National Championships and runner-up finishes at the 1980 and 1981 NCAA Championships. The NCAA Team Championships won by the men's swimming team from 1977-79 remain the only team titles Johns Hopkins has won in a sport other than men's lacrosse.

Morgan was the individual NCAA Champion in the 200 butterfly as a sophomore (1979) and senior (1981) and the 200 IM as a senior (1981). He was also a member of the 400-medley relay team that won the Division III Championship in 1979, 1980 and 1981.

In all, Morgan swam in 12 individual events at the NCAA Championships during his career and finished in the top four in all 12. This includes his three individual championships.
